The growth tax

Every time a small trades shop hires, its software bill goes up before the new tech swings a hammer.

The preconception

Field service software is expensive because it is "enterprise-grade", and pricing that scales with your crew is just how it works.

The problem

Per-tech pricing punishes the wrong thing

Hiring is the riskiest, most valuable move a small operator makes. With per-user pricing, the bill rises on day one, with zero jobs done. If the hire doesn’t work out, the charge stays until someone remembers to cancel it.

The software doesn’t work any harder for your sixth tech, and it costs the vendor almost nothing extra to serve them. The price rises because it can. That is a growth tax.

Lock-in

Why it lasts

Your customers, jobs, invoices and history all live inside the tool. Switching hurts, and vendors know it. The industry calls the result "expansion revenue". The honest word is lock-in.

The math

Run your shop

Per-tech add-ons each year
Extra cost per new hire each year

Use the add-on amount from your own invoice.
